No I am neither Brasilian nor anti Brasilian. I am a realist and my judgement does not get impaired by ludicrous assertions which are there to "talk up" the deal. What I find astounding is that there hasn't been a stampede to shoot me down in flames. Likewise I started a thread asking for flight info...not a response. If what I am saying is complete poppycok, why haven't there been hundreds of posts telling me how wrong I am? I don't know where you are from, but look at the same dream that was created in Spain. Yes money has been made, by "so many for so few", but the reality is that that market is at a complete standstill. Brasil has nowhere near the advantages of Spain. It does not have fast, quick, cheap and abundant communication links. It does not have local communications or infrastructure. It has a 3rd world economy, albeit growing. It is potentially unstable. There are no low interest mortgage facilities to encourage growth and precipate investment from those that can't really afford it. Money transfer although feasible is complicated, the real is not a freely traded world currency. Yes all these factors make it a good buy, that's why you can buy a place for $100k or less. But these off plan developments are trying to price themselves marginally below European prices. My ladyfriend works in a swish hotel and earns $50US a week! This is an economy where you can feed a family of four for $100 per month. So where on earth are properties selling close to European prices justifiable and how on earth are they going to rise in this economy? Initially they will rise because some will fall for the dream and believe the hype. But, there are absoultely no economic nor growth factors visible that say that even current "off plan" prices can be sustained. There are three major tower block developments on Ponta Negra that are in mothballs....there is no action, no construction going on..why do you think that is? Please tell me? I am sorry and this is a great debate and that is why these forums are here. But I just don't beleive it until I am convinced otherwise.
