Hey Nick,
I actually flew NYC - Sao Paulo - Salvador, but it would've been the same if I were going to Natal as well. You flew into Sao Paulo or Rio from NYC and then connected from there (at least from the NYC area). I didn't think of it as a big deal and it certainly would NOT have kept me from visiting Salvador or any other city, for that matter. For me, its not so important that there is a direct flight. The important thing to me is being able to fly direct from the major points of entry into Brazil overall. There are many places I go here within the US where I can't get a direct flight, so to get to someplace as wonderful as Salvador Brazil with only one change in plane is great to me. Maybe the perspective is different from people in the UK.
Again, I don't know how things have changed and I'm not looking to buy based on the expectation of an international airport in Natal opening up with direct flights to London, Miami, NYC, or other big cities like that. For me, such a development is a bonus. Its like icing on the cake. But it appears that others think differently.
Thanks for the welcome!
Greg
