The time passing Flexeiras (from the north of Fortaleza) did take nearer 2 hours though that was going back vai the cost road from Cumbuco not the new highway from the back of the city.

The irony is that your estimate of the time taken to get to Flexeiras is probably quite accurate in reality.The quality of the road surface North of Fortaleza is appalling so add 30 minutes to change your tyre or alternatively crawl along at 30mph and you are not far out!
Outside daylight hours it is even more dangerous as you cannot see where the potholes are.I had to stay the night in a local pousada and resume ny journey the next day.
