Try Costa Rica. It is the safest place in all of South and Central America. It was number 27th in a survey of 419 countries. I do not say that there are no scammers here. But i am living here since 2001 and have NEVER had anything stole. The odd Gringo tax in a taxi but that is the extent of it. There is very rarely an violent crimes. usually some thing stupid like cell phone or a bag stolen. and even then i only know of a handfull of people that has expierenced this. and all were in a bad area of town at nite.
