Hi Georgina - Im still laughing from your 1st paragraph with the vision in my head LOL. Dont worry your are not coming across as giving out negative comments and we welcome to hear these comments from expats living in Egypt. I agree with you about the wages and the Egyptians working in a purpose resort like Sharm rely on the tips and Im sure they do very well out of it. Eg the cleaners normally get a tip of around £10 for each hotel room they clean and if a min of 20 vacate the rooms each week they clean that is a whooping £200 a week which is very good compared to the low cost of living - even though prices have gone up. Alot of workers we have met do really on the tips which they send home to their families to survive.
