Only once, I passed through India to SE Asia. I have it from a reputable company I usually listen to that the law has actually changed and foreigners can now hold freehold in India without the problems of setting up companies etc. The Indian Embassy has remained steadfastly silent and don't seem to want to answer questions (What the hell is the purpose of the place then?)
