Yes have lived on both and many others...the TV just shows the tip of the problem...have you heard about the USAs great idea to kick out all their foreign ex cons...even if they moved to the states as a child? a case of 3 strikes and your out...well this is one of the causes of the rise in crime in otherwise lovely countries.
Where would I suggest? depends on how much money you have, Bermuda, BVI or Turks & Caicos (Providenciales).. There is no such place as a perfect destination, you just have to decide what you want and what you can afford.
If you want lush mountains and waterfalls the TCI isnt for you but if you want the best beach in the world it is..
