Default Re: Flights!!

Hi all,

This is a site I use often to check up on flight news called
Cheap flights by Just the Flight UK discount air fares specialist

This is an article Ive seen on it recently:

New route improves connections to Brazilian capital
Portuguese airline TAP Portugal commences flights from Lisbon to Brasilia on 19 July, making them the first airline to offer direct international flights to the Brazilian capital.

The flights will operate five times weekly, using Airbus A330 aircraft. The new services will significantly reduce travelling times for passengers connecting between London and Brasilia.

The new route has been introduced in response to substantial interest in tourism in Brasilia and Central Brazil.

The airline is also increasing frequency on its flights from Lisbon to Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo, making a total of 60 TAP flights per week between Portugal and Brazil. The airline's other Brazilian destinations include Natal, Recife, Fortaleza and Salvador.

It has recently been announced that the Portuguese authorities have given approval for TAP's acquisition of rival Portuguese carrier PGA Portugalia.

The same site I retrieved the emirates info from aswell!

Default Flights to Brazil

I am sorry but your rash statement about Thomson Fly doubling their flights to Brazil is just not true. I have checked their corporate media centre, there is no reference to this at all. Nor is there any reference on the online booking service. Flights to Brasilia with TAP do not stimulate sales and provide extra capacity in NE Brasil. Check the Brasilian airports website (as per on my flight thread) and there are virtually no international flights out of Recife/Natal/Fortaleza. They are 90%+ internal flights to Rio/SP or up and down the coast. I am sorry to disappoint you, but this whole arguement about traffic into Natal exploding is dillusional. Both now and in the short term future. So may I suggest that if you want to build a tourist and property explosion in Natal, please at least have a modicum of fact to justify it. Everybody is living on a false dream here and this has all the elements of collapse about it. Let the buyer beware!

Default Re: Flights!!!

Hi all,

GW- I appreciate that everyone has different views and the forum provides the freedom of speech and views to do this- all to their own!!

The government in brazil have declared that they wish to achieve by 2015 that The new natal airport will receive inaccess of 5 +million passengers per year!!! THATS 80-100,000 PASSENGERS PER WEEK IN NATAL ALONE!!!!
If this "so called dream and fantasy" you keep refering to does become reality then "WE" will be laughing!!!

You have already factually stated on another post that SP and RIO currently receives 23+ million passengers through its airports per year!
But in fact how many actually stay in these locations and how many fly on to other airports and location...???
Or is that the stats article I read somewhere last week...???

I am not oblivious to the poor and detremental current issues regarding flights to brazil - but if the economy is growing at the rate predicted and potentially a lead player in the economy quoted by goldman sachs by 2050 then they have major issues that will need to be rectified in the travel industry in order to maintain and encourage this!!!

If they choose to ignore this issue then their economy WILL SUFFER!!

Still happy, not being dettered from this opportunity , live and let live..!!!!
I have made a good and confident investment in my eyes- And look forward to the day where Im relaxing on my roof terrace with seaviews, with a margarita in one hand and my BA ticket in the other ( OR if Im lucky virgin atlantic one day-who knows....???

"Past is history, future is a mystery, today is a gift thats why we call it the present"

GW- Are you brazilian by any chance...????? OR are you anti-brazilian...???
Its one OR the other..!!!

take care-See ya D

No I am neither Brasilian nor anti Brasilian. I am a realist and my judgement does not get impaired by ludicrous assertions which are there to "talk up" the deal. What I find astounding is that there hasn't been a stampede to shoot me down in flames. Likewise I started a thread asking for flight info...not a response. If what I am saying is complete poppycok, why haven't there been hundreds of posts telling me how wrong I am? I don't know where you are from, but look at the same dream that was created in Spain. Yes money has been made, by "so many for so few", but the reality is that that market is at a complete standstill. Brasil has nowhere near the advantages of Spain. It does not have fast, quick, cheap and abundant communication links. It does not have local communications or infrastructure. It has a 3rd world economy, albeit growing. It is potentially unstable. There are no low interest mortgage facilities to encourage growth and precipate investment from those that can't really afford it. Money transfer although feasible is complicated, the real is not a freely traded world currency. Yes all these factors make it a good buy, that's why you can buy a place for $100k or less. But these off plan developments are trying to price themselves marginally below European prices. My ladyfriend works in a swish hotel and earns $50US a week! This is an economy where you can feed a family of four for $100 per month. So where on earth are properties selling close to European prices justifiable and how on earth are they going to rise in this economy? Initially they will rise because some will fall for the dream and believe the hype. But, there are absoultely no economic nor growth factors visible that say that even current "off plan" prices can be sustained. There are three major tower block developments on Ponta Negra that are in mothballs....there is no action, no construction going on..why do you think that is? Please tell me? I am sorry and this is a great debate and that is why these forums are here. But I just don't beleive it until I am convinced otherwise.

Default Re: General Debate!!

Hi all,

GW- I KNOW THIS IS A DEBATE ON DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW, SO TRY NOT TO TAKE THINGS TOO PERSONALLY!!!

I understand where you are coming from regarding the issues which I am fully aware of but like I said who knows...????
At the moment its a case of flipping a coin and seeing which side it lands on!!

You are right to a certain extent maybe there is alot of hype about brazil at the moment- as it is a new place on the map thats come into the light for investment!

Regarding spain -Iknow exactly what yoiu mean as I am half spanish and have relatives in spain!!
It has suffered from a dramatic case of over-hyped and over-inflated prices, oversupply and saturation and the economy is in the red and in serious decline because of this!
People are having to reduce property prices by upto 30% as they cannot sell and are still having problems even after reducing as there are no buyers or takers at the moment!
Developers are trying to sell their companies and shares before they go bust but still no takers and developments yet again are on standstill due to financial reasons and lack of sales!!!

Brazil is a NEW market and a buyers market so it is in the VERY EARLY STAGES and this is the RISK FACTOR!!!
Ihave choosen to take this risk and the consequences to go with it whatever that may or may not be...????

This is not the first time I have invested abroad or at this an earloy stage so I have seen the way in which countries have developed over time before regarding -travel,tourism,developments and infrastrucure- and everything has been a learning curve for me!!!

But once I make a decision I "stick to it" regardless of the "GOOD OR BAD"!!!
And believe me I am not wearing "rose tinted glasses" I see both sides of the situation so I am prepared to ride it out and sit and wait to see what the future holds!!!

See ya D

Then it strikes me that anyone interested in NE Brazil, particularly developers, should put pen to paper and ask Richard Branson to start his flights as soon as possible! The reality is that the links to Brazil from Europe are sparse and expensive. Also just read the Thomson and 1st Choice have published a merger document...that doesn't auger well for Salvador.

What concerns me is that the new airport is not aimed for passenger travel, but mainly cargo, which is why the old airport will still remain open and accessible.
