There has to be controversy here in relation to Thomson flights flying here or not,but it has been said that tickets were being sold for as little as 130,00 return and 350,00 return at times which really would push the back up of other airline companies who have been flying here for years who are charging much more. The Thomson flights have been flying at an average of 70%/75% capacity on average .So I can see why they are pulling out because of the fuel issue and flight price issue ,that says it all.

Fly Brazil are charging 1,200 euros return (and that is without a ticket from the UK )in high season(July)so that makes for an expensive trip even with the package prices and we are less likely to see a growth in tourism for the final yr ending 2008.Now the flight to Salvador would then include another internal flight connection for another cost of 400,00 reais +taxes or a coach journey which will take about 15 hrs

Air China is supposed to have a flight from Germany non-stop to Sao Paulo. I don't know how close that gets you to Natal.

Dotty, airlines don't stop flying because the fuel price rises...they pass on the cost to their customers! The fact is that Natal tourism has not improved or progressed anyone can see that facilities are declining, just walk down the beach and look at the state of disrepair of the roads and pavements. Half finished buildings, empty bars and shops etc etc. Natal has nothing to offer Thomson that they cant find elsewhere and better...they are a Tour Operator not an airline and cannot be compared with scheduled carrier..of which from Europe there is only one into NE or most points north of Brazil..TAP and describing them as an international airline is bordering on slander.

But to sell tickets at 129,00 return means that they cannot get the tourist here with give away ticket prices anyway. There is a wonderful article by Vanessa Feltz(an English journalist who writes for The Express newspaper)about her trip to Natal with her children and she sums it up perfectly.Sorry I cannot paste it,but go into google and you can read it.
