Is it a house you want, rather than an apartment? There are houses and flats (100m2 3 bed) in Ponta Negra well within your budget. But if you want beachfront or second line then you would have to look in other beach areas. If you are coming to Natal to look let me know and I will be pleased to sort out some options for you to look at.

I promise that from now on, I'll only ask questions in this forum, not give my two cents anymore...at least until the next time. I'll post a new thread later one regarding my doubts; wrong thread perhaps, sorry.

Yes Dotty, it is a fact that I can catch a plane any day of the week from most parts of the world to two cities with a combined population of 24 million.

I can also fly to Natal any day of the week, but since it is a much smaller city it isn't as easy.

You can still get beachfront and second line houses for within your budget on the tropical island of Itamaraca, PE, for example - it is all a matter of looking for the right area to invest your budget!

The City of Natal is a far nicer place to invest in than Recife as the city is much more attractive, but the flight thing is an issue getting here, however I have heard that they are trying to sort it out ,so lets wait and see!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies.
It’s good to know that there are several alternatives out there; kind of sad that the time will be too short to see all. I appreciate the replies and I’ll be in touch.
I believe the information is good for others within a similar budget.

Next Tuesday, 27th May 2008 companies can start their proposals to build the access roads to the new airport (Sao Gonçalo do Amarante) - the choice will be made over the coming three months or so "se Deus quiser"...

Additionally, "half the primary and secondary runways have been completed" and there are "many domestic and foreign companies interested in funding the terminals for the new airport".

The access roads will include bicycle lanes ô.Ô

Para essas rotas, o governo estabelece um teto mínimo e máximo para o preço que as empresas podem cobrar em cada rota Is this a wolf in sheep's clothing? if I read this correctly it says.."the Govt will set a minimum and maximum to flight prices" which to my mind means, they will liberalise, but not a lot! Again a half measure and not what is required. As for future pricing, Natal which is the point of the discussion will not have a useful hub with decent pricing until there is heavy competition on the route, prices that are fixed from a min to max is not a liberalisation.

As for bashing Brazil, if you read my posts carefully, I am bashing those that make claims about brazil which are clearly not true. For example, this thread started about a year ago when many of you Property Agents out there were telling us in writing how easy and cheap it was to get to NE Brazil and how this new airport would open the flood gates to simple easy and economic transportation into the area....this has been the main premise of many property Sellers for this region..still is in some cases. Since that time, there can be no doubt that this myth have been busted wide open and the reality is now here. Talking of reality, I hear that natal is empty of tourism at present, many places closed and hotels talking of mass redundancies..not to mention the loss of Thomson flights and the liquidation or alleged liquidation of some major mega developments such as GNG etc etc. So before you Agents bash the likes of myself and Dotty, go and take a good look in the mirror and take stock of the reality as the property world is today.

You seem to have correctly translated it although it says routes not flights - where are you quoting it from?

Oh and stop trying to steal the limelight. The first person to talk down the new airport on the forums wasn't you or Dotty, it was one of "us" agents. I know because it was me and at the time no one cared or believed me.

Rifle back through this post until you find my first post about the airport and the publicity agents in Europe are giving it and you'll see it's months before you even joined the forums.

Now, as to our current opinions, I believe the new airport will be built, you believe it won't. And whether it will or won't remains to be seen so we don't know what is "fact" and what is "fiction" at this stage.
