Hi - I have used fx/ currency brokers quite a lot and done alot of the e 'spot' type trades mentioned earlier - but have also 'pre-booked' a rate which worked well. I opened 3 accounts (moneycorp, world first and currencies direct) - get a quote from them all and tell them what best quote I have is - so I always get best deal I can. Say I need 30,000 Eu for a stage payment that is coming up within the next 4-6 months -and the rate is good now - then after getting best quote I book the deal/rate for the full 30K euros at the fixed rate, choose how long I want to hold the money for (so 3/4/6 months etc) - only pay a 5 or 10% deposit up front (depending on the co you have chosen). Then if you have held the rate of 4 months but you find need some/allof your money paid earlier you can access it - but once it gets to the 4 months you have to take the money at your fixed rate. As someone said earlier, it is a risk that you fix a deal then the rate gets better but - makes you feel a lot more comfortable and in control so you are not 'at the mercy' of the markets at the time of the transaction with no other options.

Default New and Excited!

Hey everybody,

I am new to these boards and new to international investing. I live in the US and have been toying with the idea of investing overseas. My plan/goal is to buy something that can be rented out to vacationers and use it myself for 1-2 weeks per year until my wife and I retire.

The information on this board has been invaluable as Brazil is one of my target countries. Most of the talk I see is about NE Brazil. Has anyone looked into the lagoon areas just to the NE of Rio or places like Porto Alegre? Also, has anyone had experience with purchasing existing buildings (i.e. condos or houses) and then getting a management company to handle renting it out? I like the idea of pre-construction, but I worry that I am missing an entire market segment by not looking at pre-existing properties.

Thanks for all of your help and I look forward to getting to know all of you over the course of my education about this.

Greg

Hi everyone, I have just been offered a new development in Canoa Northern Brazil. The development is called Paraiso Beach. Does anyone know anymore details about this particular development. I am aware that the due dilligence has been carried out by Manzanares International Lawyers and as suggested in the above posts they have a new office in Natal.

Any further information anyone has on this development or the region would be appreciated.

Unfortunately they don't seem to have a search by reference number option (or I didn't look hard enough), however the site is a tad confusing, with Natal being offered in the states of Ceará, Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte.

Canoa (if you we are talking about the same Canoa) is located in Ceará however on that website in Ceará there are two properties (same development, just different room types) from Lagoa do Coelho, which is in the RN state and one development in Fortaleza, called Palm Beach.

Not heard of Paraiso Beach yet myself either.
