I spoke to one of the people a couple of times but we'd never done business together - we were talking about Egypt. Not sure how it relates to the safety of people investing in Bahia. Are you inferring that there was something improper with that particular flight?

As far as I know it was a tragic accident and I feel for the families of those on board.

Well it crashed, so I guess something was up! I am certainly not inferring the plane was sabotaged by an extreme Bahian nationalist/enviromentalist group. Or that it didnt really crash and all the guys are now in Panama etc...

I was only responding to Dotty's question about large resort condo encroachments on Itacare, and other than some mid size high end projects, the only ones I know of that were/are in the pipeline are the developments headed by the 4 unfortuante Brits who went down the in the plane crash.

Over hype-The beach has always been slightly grey at the front and of course it's not just a beach it is a natural paradise with outstanding nature that is timeless ,wonderful restaurants and stylish pousadas too !
The days are long gone of lightless streets and animals roaming the sand streets that were peaceful and quiet with semi naked indiinous people around cooking their fish in the garden and fixing their nets, but the spirit is still there in the locals and the money they are earning of course ,so most are very happy folk who do not take drugs .
Have a nice day.

Pousadas were nice, but nothing outstanding except Mosq Blue, restaurants were all average and very dissapaointing. I didn't try the drugs though so I could see clearly that the beach was grey and past the dune it gets muddy.

The guides on the way in to Jerri are little scammers, they are everywhere and will try their hardest to convince you that you aren't allowed in without a guide, or that the tracks are dangerous. Are these the happy locals in touch with their indigenous lifestyle???

I find that hard to believe if you step off the coach in Jijoca you will see several trucks that will take you into Jeri for about 5 reais(it may have gone up to 7).
There are routes in that you cannot take ,so maybe they were advising you as there are tracks that are dangerous ,bumpy, swampy etc. When you say not allowed in with a guide,do you mean Jeri or the route ?
As for people ,well marvellous !

I drove a Pajero up to Jeri becuase 4 hours is much better than the 6 or 7 on the bus from Forteleza.

Both ways in to Jeri are easily accessible by a 4x4, but the local guides will of course lie to get money out of you for doing nothing.

Mineiro ,
There's a lot of mystery behind Jeri that makes it so special. The main point of visiting somewhere like that is to go the routes that have always been taken and not along the touristy route.I hope they never build a road to it,that would be silly, just as driving a Pajero there is rediculous. Can beat the real thing .

From the point where you leave the tarmac/road heading for Jeri which is about another 5-6kms you will drive through many small villages with character and local tradition. Then you will proceed to drive along the actual beachfront for a couple of kms before heading across the dunes.
There is no way that a road will be constructed along the existing route as you pass very close to the sea itself plus the dunes are protected.

Jeri's charm comes from it's secluded location and Lula would definately meet strong oposition should he even think of doing such a thing.

Best the way it is...a natural paradise .... and there are many trips to jeri therefore you don't have to buy a Pajero..lol

Sorry Dotty but I wasn't really being serious. Just trying to see if Dave's still alive.
