Default BRAZIL OWNERS- Anyone out there??

Hello

I just joined a few days ago, it's interesting to read the comments at the forum here - very informative. I live near Fortaleza. I bought an old property some years ago near a beach and have had alot of fun doing building work here. Building your own place is rewarding....also helps improve my Portuguese as I am too lazy at taking lessons. I always consider it's important to view property first, documents etc and find someone you trust who knows how things are to guide you through the buying process. For me life is an adventure so buying something half falling down is a great opportunity but may not be everybodies cup of tea.

There are many opportuniies here but it's not for the faint hearted.

Regards

Peter

HI Camelungi

Welcome to the forum. Where have you bought near Fortaleza.

I have bought in Cumbuco(Banana Residential) to the north of the city and would welcome your views on this area.

Are you north or south of the city

I've heard Joćo Pessoa is very nice, it's one of the few places I have yet to visit. Sounds like you're doing well!!

Sounds like a plan. Just out of curiosity, what appealed to you more about Recife when compared to Natal? Most Europeans seem to be more interested in Natal, very possibly due to the high amount of publicity which RN has been doing when compared to JP

Default Banana Residential

Hi, Thanks for your welcome.

I visited Banana Residential just a few months ago out of interest. At least I think it's the same place....It's not far from Lagoa do Banana and Cumbuco. I didn't see much in the way of houses being built at the moment or particularly busy when I arrived although the infrastructure is there from what I can see - At the front it has sales offices etc and it has a high wall enclosing much of the development. Hope this helps

I have also walked the outskirts as there was some other property for sale nearby - to be honest there is alot of property up for sale in the area. I try to learn as much as possible about any area to see if there is anything within my budget.

Lagoa do Banana is very popular....and expensive - especially next to the Lagoa, and there are alot of opportunities and alot of people from Portugal, Spain, Italy, and other european countries who have already bought places.

I live at Iparana on the road to Cumbuco - North of Fortaleza along the coast.

If you need any help - you need a driver let me know. I speak Portuguese ok, and have bought property in 2004. I try to help people who have purchased here and can offer my services for a reasonable amount for those investing needing reliable people with experience.

Regards

Camelungi

Thanks camelungi,

sounds really nice over there. unfortunatley i wont have the time this year to visit or i might have taken you up on your offer of a lift. Think the reason there are lots of houses up for sale is the fact there is a lot of money to be made for locals due to the interest being shown by foreigners pushing the prices up.

Default Banana Residential

Yes, the locals certainly woke up to the fact that money can be made. Unfortunatly it effects the surrounding area. But I know there are different prices - The ones for the gringoes, the ones for the Brazilians and the ones who need to sell quickly. The danger especially along the coast road there could be too many pousadas and hotels being built, there are a number for sale along the road from Fortaleza to Cumbuco. The owners desperate to sell, too many overheads and not enough guests and really too distant from Cumbuco....which really is the main attraction along with Lagoa do Banana. Really tourism depends alot on how easy it is to fly in from other countries....If there were more direct flights from the UK and of course cheaper and more efficient - There could be alot more British investing here.

For the last couple of trips back to the Uk - I have had luggage problems because the carrier TAP does not have realistic connection times to transfer passengers and luggage in Lisbon - So the Luggage ends up coming the next day.

I am sure you will enjoy your visit when you come here.

Regards

It would be great it you could check things out for us when you are there. Let's keep in touch.

Hi Joelino,
Things are going well in Fortaleza, I will be visiting your development Ocean residence in Tabuba during next week Monday or Tues to check on the quality, it is almost finished so i am told. I will also be meeting the co owner of the developer Sand Gardens, a guy from New Zealand, The company are also planning on building another slightly bigger development in Tabuba within the year as they have just bought the land. So your investment in Tabuba looks pretty good as far as location goes.

I ll report back later

Paul
