You are what makes this forum a total waste of time. What the hell has crime statistics (which judging from your history you probably got completely wrong) have to do with the cost of living?

Hello Dave,

When the thread says"cost of living"we are speaking in the ambiguous sense,so it can mean financial value or living value.Hope that helps. As you don't live here and are not intouch with Brasil (in the contact sense)it would be difficult for you to comprehend.
Buy a Brasilian newspaper and train your portguese.Happy hunting.

dooty, maybe you should brush up on english, "cost of living" equates to $$$, "quality of life" is what you are talking about, I am not sure what else you are going on about.

Dotty, out of interest, where did you get those crime statistics from?

Also, you mentioned the recent reports of armed assaults on the Natal to Fortaleza bus but you failed to mention the response from the police in Natal, ie the road blocks et al.

Mr Broad,

Get in touch with the Policia Rodovia about the armed assaults on the Natal-Forteleza route(night bus route) and read today's Tribuna(front page about the 159 armed bus assault in Natal's figures for 2008)which has had plenty of news coverage..Also check out the armed assault in Caixa Economica yesterday which ended outside my front door yesterday .Give Bope a call they'll fill you in on it.There were about 20 armed Bope police chasing the armed robbers and thankfully managed to catch them -whilst a day earlier a woman leaving Banco Real was about to get in her car when an armed man put a gun to her head and took her money. Finally there is talk of adding 500 police to the force,200 covering admin and 300 (supposedly policing).
Natal needs more policing on the roads and streets day and night as it is getting pretty bad. It was once a very, very safe place to live.

Unfortunately Dave those of us who live in Brazil have to pay higher taxes in order to pay for the police forces necessary to deal with the criminals , to keep them in prison etc. We also have to pay more and more on house and car insurance.

I am seriously impressed with your logic, but assuming that Dotty thinks like that....

Thanks. But maybe you've never given Dotty a chance to explain properly. Dave do you secretly have a crush on Dotty?
