Smile Food prices

Brazil produces the food we eat.We do not import the food we eat and we do not have rice and bean rations either.A pk of beans now stands a 5.00 reais kilo, how can the very poor afford 5 reais for a pk of beans when their earnings are so little. So you are talking ..........

We are talking about a combined population of 2 billion 500 millions, from each a considerable part is leaving the poverty line. And that means, yes, eating more.

But in general I agree, we can fill a book with Lula non-senses, at least comedians have plenty of material...

Brazil is a net imported of rice. Anyway, what counts is the opportunity cost of selling abroad or being consumed internally. Bottow, and concise line, what happens in the world price matters, no doubt on that.

Well actually people are consuming less fresh fruit and veggies and their regular rice and beans and are being replaced by couscous and pasta instead and this is creating more illnesses and diseases hence(dengy deaths in RIO are up and other areas which amounts to over 60 in Rio alone this year.Yam deters dengy fever but that is 4,80 kilo!QUOTE=FCZ;44044]Brazil is a net imported of rice. Whats the more cheaper to run in Brazil in your experience? Petrol around R$2.6 and alchool around R$1.8 , but alchool burns quicker! so which is the most efficient against cost?
Cheers
Paul
I am told that if alcool is below 70% of the petrol price then it is more cost effective to use alcool. Here in Natal at present Alcool is between 1.63 - 1.66 R$ per litre. Petrol is around 2.59 per litre.

Hi Ralph - went for a drive this afternoon, and thought you might like to see some of the pictures I took of the scenery in my part of Pernambuco. But I do not know how to post them, so I will try to send them to you in an email, and perhaps you can post them for me.

Then we can try and find out why there is such a discrepancy from one state to another???

Oh, and by the way petrol v alcool? At these prices, definitely Alcool, and it delivers more bang for your bucks...

Brazil has the most expensive cars......IN THE WORLD!

From today's Globo.com

Impostos chegam a 40% do valor do carro

Os países emergentes aplicam metade disso”, ("This charge is extremely high. You don't find taxes this high in any other place in the world. Emerging countries charge half this.") afirma o presidente do Instituto Brasileiro de Planejamento Tributário (IBPT), Gilberto Luiz do Amaral.

Once again, the lovely gov't. of Brazil charging the highest taxes on planet earth, yet public security, infrastructure, education.....all in shambles. We see next to nothing for our tax dollars. You want security? Hire a bodyguard. You want good education, send your kids to private school, and still, it's difficult to find a good one, you want good infrastructure, or in many cases just infrastructure?? Well, you're in the wrong place.

I visited my favourite restaurant yesterday and Camaroes was empty! We were entertaining guests from S.P.When the food arrived it had diminished to half the size of its original portion and had approximately 20 prawns in the dish. The bill came to almost 180,00 reais with dessert and the guests(they were just a couple) asked: Where are all the foreigners?Ponta Negra is empty.
