HELLO DEAR FRIENDS! AND HOW ARE YOU DOING TODAY??

My name is Liene and I am from Latvia. I got interrested in property and foreign real estate aproximately 2 years ago when some British guy younger then me said he had couple of flats in Turkey..... which was quite a surprise to me as people in our country did not have this tradition to own property overseas....

I started reading various property websites and my "dream" place to own a flat abroad became Dubai! I even made an investigation trip last year in April.

However, earlier than that I had become a "victim" of heavy pre-EU accession Bulgaria's real estate advertising campaign and had gone for a studio in Bansko - 5* ski - golf resort Paradiso Verde. (After some advice from real estate people to stay away from overdeveloped beach front... And everything else ever since I've heared about Bansko was smth like a bad choice.)

I still have to make a last payment and go throught the registration procedure, which I am not happy about (if my choice of the location has been so bad). So I am looking to obtain some more information about the last procedures (mostly - can the visit to Bulgaria be avoided at all - if I gave the Power of Attorney to some Lawyer in my country instead) and what to do with this property later on.

By the way, and how much does the property registration cost in 2008? Has it gone up to 4% as one lawyer was writing me in an email?

Hope to hear back from you soon!
Bye!

To start the introductions, which I hope very much you will all follow, even if you have been on this board for some time :

My name is Jain and my husband is Chris (him from the North of the UK and me from the South, so you can imagine the family situation!).

We've lived in Bulgaria for four years now and were expats in France for 10 years before that.

As you will have seen; we live here with our superb german shepherd dog, called peluche (meaning of her name is 'fluffy thing').

I worked in a notarial office in France running their real estate section for 10 years (which Bulgarian law is based upon) and Chris ran a printing and publishing company during that time (with a magazine to help Brits understand the buying process in France and living there).

When we saw what was going on in Bulgaria, we knew that the buyers of Bulgarian property needed much help.

Chris had been coming and doing business with Bulgaria since 84 and my father was Hungarian... so, with our experience of Eastern Europe we decided the best way forward was to assist as many as possible. In our third year of publication, we are still growing which shows this considerable market.

Enough of us, what about you guys out there? What ya buyin', what d'ya want to do?..........

Say 'hi' here please.
