Most of these posting are very euro/asian centric - what do people think of Mexico?

I am in the Real Estate business based in NY and opened an office in Mexico last year. The investments made in the Mexican Carribean (Rivierra Maya) have been doing incredible and the area has been booming.

What are people's thoughts on the opportunities in the Mexican Carribean and the relative value of this market versus some of the other more often discussed on this board?

thanks,
Jolshin@nyrealty.net

I think Mexico has enormous potential, given the interest from US second-home buyers and the possibility that returning migrants will want to buy real estate there.

What, however, are the restrictions on foreign ownership?

there are no restrictions in the interior - buying land close to the borders and on the coast line needs to be done through a simple (50 year and renewable) trust. the trust basically does whatever you want it to. this adds a small amount to the acquisition and maintenance fees, but not significant.
