Angry Is it true one can't work in Dubai with resident visa by buying flat here in Dubai?

Is it true that one is not allowed to work in Dubai if one obtained resident visa through purchasing a free hold apartment, for example Dubai International City?
Anyone with information in this regard is requested to reply.
Many thanks!

Default Yes, Thats True

Hi Amir Khan

I am afraid that is true. This visa only comes along with the purchase of the property and lasts while you still own this property. If once you have sold the property the residency visa will no longer be valid for you. You do not have to, if you do not to, use the visa.

The visa is a simple stand alone living visa and does not give you the rights to work.

If you would like to work here in Dubai then you will need to apply for a working visa through the company you are going to maybe work for.

I hope I have answered your question.

Regards

Hi,

Does the Visa give you access to some sort of health care or do you have to pay for that too?

Hi again

Umm, really nothing is free in this country except for the local people of Dubai who carry Local UAE passports.

I think saying this there are a few handful of hospitals here in dubai that probably provide you with a limited free service.

Best thing to do is get yourslef insured from some well known medical insurance company.

Take Care

My mother will be retiring to Dubai. She has a property in her name but I was going to a visa under my dependancy rights under my residence visa as it works out cheaper than two seperate investor's residence visas. If I an not going to use my visa and she has a non resident bank account with HSBC's overseas department, plus she has to pay for medical insurance and has no intention to buy a car or start a business, is there any reason why we need to buy a visa anyway. Also, can you buy a visa at anytime whilst you own a property if you have to at a later stage?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Some of the other things you need to show a res visa for include: renting a Post Office Box, getting a phone line/internet connection, and getting a license to buy from the liquor store. If you don't need these things, you can keep legal by ducking out of the country every 2 months to renew your visit visa. For some passport holders, this is as simple as a drive up to the Oman border.

Maybe du will allow a phone connection without insisting on the res visa. It could be just Etisalat that needs it.
