Default Short Term Rental Licence

Does anyone know the details of what these are exactly and how to go about getting one?

I have heard that if it is stated in your sale contract that you are not eligible to lease short term then only you need a special permit which unfortunatley I do not know the way to get one.

If on the other hand it is not specified in your sale agreement, then you are, apparently free to do short term lease of your unit.

Red face No Law in Place

John Topic thread here In short no such Law exists.

There is nothing preventing the developer placing there own terms and conditions, which sounds like Greco is referring to.

At this stage Emaar is the only developer discussing this. I imagine they want a slice of the pie and will come up with a "Fee" how present market forces dictate there is a demand for Short Term Rentals with the average commission payable 20%

Dubai Properties ( part of Dubai Holdings)which developed JBR has not taken this view. Indeed many investors have purchased JBR Apartments with the view of Short Term Rental market in mind and the latest marketing from JBR has 1% Down payment and exclusive 99% Financing with Dubai Bank.

Default Emaar Cannot decide on Short Term Rental

I think Emaar or any other developer cannot implement a law against short term rental as they are not the authority. It is the Dubai Government that can decide that and as far as I know there is NO LAW AGAINST RENTING YOUR PROPERTY FOR SHORT TERM RENTALS.
