Your comments are most welcome.
Absolutely fascinating reading these comments and some on other threads (I think Peter has initiated a poll as well). "I canīt fly there from Luton, so Iīm not going to invest there!". There are direct flights into Hurghada from Holland, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, France and 8 different airports in Germany (see TUIfly.com - günstige Flüge ab 19,99 EUR). Thereīs nothing to be gained from inciting the arguement about Hurghada v Sahl, because if you canīt afford Sahl. you canīt have it (much like Marbella, Cannes, Rome or New York). Sahl has everything a top class international resort should have - the only grey area is whether the post-completion marketing of the resort will equal the developers marketing machine that is currently in place. If itīs marketed excusively to the residents of Frankfurt, it doesnīt make a blind bit of difference provided it appreciates in value and there is an exit strategy. Itīs either an investment or itīs not.

I am coming from America. I paid 1200.00 USD for that flight, then 54.00 USD for the flights to Hurghada. 1254.00 USD total round trip, including taxes.

I had the same problem, in the end used SwissAir, you can book online to Cairo via Zurich (about 1 hour stay) then internal flight via EgyptAir (also booked online) they have few flights a each day so not too much waiting around.

It's not the most direct or fastest way to get to Hurghada, but at least you have more flexibility then the charter airlines, the 1st time I went there with XL air, I had a 9 hour delay at Gatwick which nearly put me off Egypt all together.

Hi
we use XL quite a bit for various destinations and we have not had a delay yet. In fact twice we have arrived 30 minutes early
Cheers

Angry Egypt Flights

We can certainly echo all thoughts that have been posted with regard to flights to Hurghada. We have purchased two properties there and are now unable to obtain flights at a reasonable cost. How great it would have been to spend Xmas there but at a cost of Ģ370+ for a flight from Gatwick - no thank you. As for a flight from Bristol - well don't even go there - it's impossible. Come on developers let's see some action. If there is also anything we can do then let's have the info to attempt to move this situation forward.:

Phil there is only one solution going forward and that is for owners and developers alike to lobby the charter operators like Ryan Air, Easyjet, BMI Baby et al. They are all business people and when they realise that enough people are wanting to travel they will react...Its good to see the BA flight to Hurghada back from 2nd November but, as always the closer to your travel date you book as the seats fill up it just gets more and more expensive. Why can they not sell as many seats as possible at a more reasonable price and simply use a larger aircraft?

I know it is more inconvenient , but if you fly into Cairo, they have 5 flights a day to and from for about 25 GBP / 50 US. It also might be a bit cheaper to fly into Cairo, But I am not sure on that. The flight is only 55 minutes.

Just a thought.

I returned yesterday from Hurghada. We flew Egypt Air from Heathrow to Cairo on the night flight from Heathrow leaving at 10.20 and arriving 5.00 am in Cairo. We then flew from Cairo to Hurghada on the 7.30 am flight. We spent 3 days in Hurghada, travelled by coach to Luxor to view a couple of Temples and the Valley of the Kings and flew back from Luxor to Heathrow on Air Egypt flight at 8.45 in the morning. Total flight cost was around 460 GBP but this can get as low as 320 GBP at other times of the year. It is the chosen route for many Egyptians in the UK returning to visit family & friends; it is a scheduled service and the seats have loads of legroom. Not as cheap as some but very comfortable and without stress. Hamdy el Sawy the Egyptian lawyer in Kingston made all the arrangements; his son runs a travel agency.
