No pobs whatsoever, just get someone who knows what they are doing to set it up for you, It is quite easy to set up your self but why do it if some expert will do it free!!

I bought some patch leads and now can watch on my TV in the villa.
Who needs dishes?
Can you buy the patch leads in Egypt? Thanx, Vix

Does your internet actually work well enough to be able to watch via Slingbox?

We have a 1Meg connection, but it works so badly that I can't stream anything via YouTube even, so I can't see that I would be able to watch Slingbox on it.

Oh dear, you've got me there! Just was so impressed by what I've heard, and going by Master Thatcher's post it seems ideal, so was thinking of taking one over with me.

Also, when you get your internet connection, make sure that you pay extra for the 'unlimited useage' option with your package.

I discovered that my landlady didn't a couple of days ago and, as my girlfriend and I are online much of the time, streaming internet radio and downloading DJ sets, we were gobbling up data at a fast rate of knots.

As a result, I am currently writing this from a wifi cafe as I got banned from my own home connection!

Thanks linda, I just checked it out and it looks really good, but you do have to have an internet connection, so I don't know what it would cost to run it. Has anyone got any ideas. What I would like is pay as you go sky. Its a shame they can't do that.

Hi Dawn,

Have a good read through the 'Television in Egypt' thread in the lounge - especially the last few pages as there's a lot of info on the available English channels.
Sky isn't available in Egypt but they have a couple of satellites with watchable English channels. Of the two, I'd say that Showtime is the best but there are a few free to air channels available without satellite. I think your best bet, if you like your TV, is to record lots before your holiday and buy a DVD player while you're out there. Showtime for instance, has Coronation St and Emmerdale but as they're 6-8 weeks behind the UK you will have already seen them!
