Hi all here is the Abu Ashara supermarkets website. You can view special offers and get an idea of costs. They have some household items such as small electricals, pots and pans etc http://www.abuashara.com/OffersMag.aspx

Wow!! Just seen the Senzo website. Can't wait :-) I have seen the construction site a while ago and a friend told me the other day it is supposed to be opening soon.

In El Gouna we have one extreme to the other for clothes shopping, either the usual fake designer clothes or ridiculously expensive clothes. It really winds me up when I am quoted prices in Euros because I think it is just targetted at the tourists earning European salaries. But I guess it is nice to have the choice here if you want to pay those prices.

We are still limited here for buying decent make-up so I love to go up to Cairo to City Stars and stock up on cosmetics. City Stars is wonderful to go to when you live on the Red Sea coast but just for a day or two. And I highly recommend Abu el Sid restaurant on the 6th floor for their Egyptian decor and Egyptian food.

In Esplanada Mall in Hurghada we have Charles Keith for shoes and boots. I have bought quite a few pairs but El Gouna was certainly not designed for high heels. I wear boots with narrow heels in the winter but once the heels have worn down I don't know of a decent shoe repair. I took them the first time to Hurghada and was charged LE25 which I thought was OK but they looked terrible and only lasted about four walks to the marina and back. I then went with a friend and paid LE10 so OK it's not too much but I would gladly pay more if they were repaired like in the UK. I have since learned that the Egyptian price is LE1 !! I hope Senzo opens a good shoe repairers for ladies shoes.

We were told it was opening in August but maybe they meant August 2009. It looks a long way off to me.

There is a shop in Nabq called Smiley Stars for mums and kids at the Oriental resort next to the Metro Supermarket. It sells newborn items, kidswear, maternity wear, books, toys, swimwear and much more.

There is up to 50% off sale from 27th May until 7th June.
