Our favourite food places are:

CARINA'S on the village road..good basic food cheap they also serve beer and spirits cheap..and good atmosphere.

MAFIA on the village road...nice italian food ...their lasagne is really good.

DA NANNI'S behind Bulls...another nice italian place.

CAFE DEL MAR...another vote...nice place... good variety of food well cooked and presented.

EL ARABI....in Sekella nr the seagull hotel...great oriental food..their meat dishes are really good.

EL MINA...again the best fish restaurant here...just dont serve alcohol.

CAOI CAOI...the one behind the village road near the big mosque and petrol station....great BBQ food in different outdoor setting.

HARD ROCK CAFE..on esplanade...my neighbour is assistant manager..so it gets a vote..joking apart good food especially for those who are'nt to adventurous with their food.

LEBANESE RESTAURANT...village road/esplanade...good food plus free
belly dancing lessons.

THE KOSHARI CAFE in sekella nr El Joker...try it real Egyptian food at 3 le for a big bowl...

AND FINALLY when the urge takes you ....Mc D'S..The problem is the expectation is always better than the food!!!!

Mc d's kfc and pizza hut all deliver in fact till late...nearly all take outs here deliver.

Im hungry now...i might get a pizza from oscars in mubarek 2 for 12 le for a med chicken one...

Can anyone tell us if there are any traditional Egyptian restaurants that you may know of,also what are the main dishes.
There is a lot of Italian restaurants in Egypt as well as others but I don't seem to remember any real Egyptian Cuisine.

What actually is Egyptian cuisine anyway?

I'm guessing it's like Lebanese (which is wonderful)

A lot of it is like Lebansese then.

Excellent!

I love Lebanese, but the only ones in Prague and Riga were insanely expensive and so I could only ever afford to go there for a special treat.

Probably now I will be eating Egyptian every day and going to McDonlads for a special treat!
