A little warning from Zeiad which you mums should take heed of, see quote below:

Please warn British girl NOT to fall for shopsellers and beach boys in Sharm, and that if they decided to do then NOT to transfer money for them with no guarantees! In fact this phenomenn is escalating since this is the 3rd British girl in less than 8 months getting ripped off! I am serious, please help disseminate the awareness.

Zeiad has just returned from Madrid representing one such case and incidents like this are on the increase. Remember there are not the freedoms in Egypt that we are used to in the West and a scantily clad teenager is a huge temptation for some of these street trader guys and beach boys.

From what I understand the girl meets the guy and agrees to give him some money for whatever reason; she does, thinging he's a really nice guy and that's the last she sees of him. That's my take on it, but for more info ask Zeiad; he was adamant it is a very big and growing problem.

Hi - Here are a couple of stories of a young girl and a married woman that feel for the Egyptian charm.

There is this case of the teen who constantly ran away - I think she is now in Cairo with another Egyptian who she married and is planning to buy horses.

I know someone that this happenend to - in Tunisia rather than Egypt - and I know it's pretty widespread. Young men with not much money, get involved with girls (and older women) on holiday and and lay on the charm. The girl I knew didn't part with much money - she was told it was for visas and an air ticket so they could he come and see her - but some get taken for very much more. I've read about this happening in Goa, the Carribean etc so it's not just an Egyptian thing. Thank you for the post though Peter - women should be made aware. It's very easy to get taken in when you're relaxed, inhibitions down etc when on holiday. These boys can be extremely charming but in the majority of cases, they're probably moving onto the next tourist as they're waving you goodbye at the airport!!!

...and of course there are exceptions
