Incidently, depreciation is very low, I lost £600 in two years on a new car with 12k on the clock!
Thanks,
I know that it is the registration that is the problem/nightmare. Is this company Easyway in Hurghada? When we went to dealers in Cairo they couldn't help us to register a car.

Easyway is the official VW dealer, and at the moment his office is above Cheeky Monkeys and by the side of Iraida near Sekalla Square, but I know they are having a new showrooms built the other side of Hurghada. Ashraf has helped me buy 3 cars and athough it's an experience, they made it a lot easier. Failing that find a lawyer who will do it for you, it,s not expensive but ask price first.

Red face It can be done!!

It is possible to buy a car but you would have to buy it out right with cash whereas am egyptian can get it on credit.

My friend just bought a car very easily, she is british but married to egyptian, as the car is in her name she had to pay for the car up front with cash.

Easy if you have the money to do it!!

Remember you will have to register it with the traffic police, that is were you will get the number plates from too.

Can anyone please help because my head is spinning with visas, cars, freight, house buying, etc.

Waiting in anticipation of a solution!!!!

to rent long term you will pay 3000 - 4000LE......I pay 3500LE for a Hyundai Matrix from a local firm.

to buy a car, one way is to form a company, and then you can put the car in the company name..then you can also buy it through bank finance, and pay off the rest on interest...the lady that I rent from also arranges these deals.

PM me for details.

regards

Hi Bram,

Ross won't be able to send you a Private Message yet as you need to be an active member before you can use this facility. This just means that we need to hear from you a little bit more - you need to make about 6 posts. Perhaps you could do that by introducing yourself in the Introductions thread for instance: http://www.propertycommunity.com/forum/egypt...ctions-49.html. Once you've made some posts you will be able to PM Ross too!

How is your purchase coming along with the Zafarana Beach development. Did you recieve the newsletter eventually?

Best wishes
Linda

Default Car/MPV Prices In Egypt?

Hi All,

Well as some of you know I am seriously considering leaving Portugal to start my new life in Egypt (Hurghada)

I am just trying to get some figures together on a few before I make my trip out in September and any help on this would be useful.

I know this might be merged with another thread that was started sometime ago but I wanted to know if new cars/MPV's are much more expensive to buy in Egypt than say the UK and if anyone has any examples or experiences they can share with me. I would also consider leasing a vehicle.

I get the impression that importing a car is also not an option as the taxes are ridiculously high or am I wrong?

I understand that they have to be modified to incorporate different octane levels but I really have no idea what this means and wether or not it effects the price of the car.

I am interested to know if there are any Mercedes, VW, Citroen or Renault Main Dealers in Hurghada or do you have to go to Cairo.

Thanks in Advance
