After they stamp the passport they then write period of stay ( which is the expiry date of the residency visa ) and the fee ( 83.10 LE ) and sign and date it. It clearly states Work is not permitted. This lasts 12 m.

The multi entry one is more or less the same and was 61LE ( cheaper than buying from the Consulate in London which is £18 ) This lasts 6 m,

Make sure that you make them aware that you want a multi entry one and make sure that where it stated number of visits that they write several and that they also write the expiry date.

It sounds to me that you have just got the 90 day visa which does not allow multiple visits in and out of the country.

Regards

Alison
Hi Alison

Thanks for that. No, the one we got was a blue stamp in the visa. My husband only got a 3 month one as he's sudanese and they wouldn't give him a year. However, my initial visa I purchased was a 3 month multiple entry from the consulate in London which has now expired (this was stampped in the UK)

To buy the property in Sharm I was told we had to buy this residential visa to actually purchase the property (my current one was not applicable). It's this year visa for people who have bought property that they're saying is no longer valid even though it was for a period of one year and we'd only been there two days. I was not made aware that we would need to specify multiple entry as if something's valid for a year you would assume just that. So I don't know if it's a multiple entry one or not as we paid for this with our solicitor fees and actually waiting ages in the building in El Tur to get this blue stamped purchase property visa.

Based on what happened on arrival in Sharm the airport staff could have got it wrong again in relation to the blue stamped visa (same as they did with my initial visa which entitled me to multiple entry anywhere in Egypt yet they made me buy a 2 week visa on arrival which I then got my money back for as they checked with another person at the airport who then said my 3 month one is valid). They just want to get more money out of you!

I am still none the wiser lol!

We have bought at Sunny House in Nabq Bay. Hubby's going out mid May to furnish it. Just bought insurance for it in the UK.

Anne

Hi Anne - they do try it on at the airport to try and extract more money out of you. There are currently luggage scams at the airports where they try to say your cases are overweight and get you to pay the extra.
You only need the multi entry and residents visa to get the POA anyway. Each time you visit Sharm and are not going out of Sinai you dont need a visa if your stay is 15 days or less.
Did you get your insurance via Intasure by any chance?

Dont think you are too far from us at Sierra - we are out in June - hope all goes well for you.

Yes, that's the company i've got a quote from, not actually confirmed it yet. Are they ok?

I may go out June time.... not decided yet. All depends on if he's had the air con fitted by then otherwise I'd probably keel over lol!

Good thing is Khalid is Egyptian born so he knows all their tricks and if they try it on he'll just go mad at them. Quite handy really. They also over charge you by miles in the shops, more than double the price of water etc... soon give you your money back if you mention police though as they are hot on that. Same if the locals are hassling you.

Hi Anne - totally agree it helps so much to have an Egyptian with you.
I have tried to shop around for insurance and Intasure where the only ones that really covered Egypt. I have looked at the cover which seems really good there is also this thread http://www.propertycommunity.com/forum/egypt...-accounts.html

Also do you know where you are getting your furniture from yet??

I think they're the best bet, only quote £120 for the year for both buildings & contents which isn't bad in my opinion. Covers all eventualities.

Re: furniture, we were going to buy through the agent but extremely expensive. It works out much cheaper to buy in Cairo, even for the locals. We have a flat in Cairo and my husband has family there and also knows people who can do this.

Where did you get yours from?

Anne

Hi Anne - that was about the same as they quoted me which I thought was really good. We thought the furniture pack through our agent was not very good and far to over priced. We will probably get it made to order at Rowaysat as they will replicate anything for you. You can also get electrical items, garden furniture etc etc there as well. Do you know roughly what the prices are in Cairo because if they are alot cheaper than Rowaysat then it may be worth the flight from Sharm.

Well Khalid reckons you'd pay about 3 times the price as you would in Cairo and he said to hire a van and drive down (takes about 6 hours) is well worth it. We have a friend of a friend with a workshop in Cairo who will do made to measure. Air con is much cheaper in Cairo too.

Hi Anne to give you an idea I was quoted £300 for a safabed, £40 for dining table and £25 each for chairs, £90 for armchair and £800 for double bed, mattress, headboard, fitted wardrobes, 2 bedside cabinets, dressing table and mirror. Air cons were £300 each and kitchen £60 square meter ( prices from memory without looking them up ). Still undecided what to do yet. But as I say if Cairo is alot cheaper then these prices then it may be worth the trip - couldnt go by road tho I would have to fly.

I'll check with khal and let you know. Depends on quality too. I think we could get aircon for £200. His contact quoted us £4k to do the whole flat with everything except aircon. Still dear, but £3k cheaper than the agent quoted! Plus you've got your water heater to think about!

He's getting prices mid May from Cairo so will also let you know what they come back with.
