I thought I'd bump this for anyone who hasn't tried this fantastic website. It's quick - only takes a minute - and easy and it works!

Anyone got any info on vets in Hurghada?I did Google it,and it came up with some pretty awful stuff! Also, anyone know about claiming a british pension if you live in Egypt?I dont have to worry about it for 20yrs plus, but just doing research.I have to be thorough as we want to move over there but have to be sure as it will mean us selling up in the uk.We also have a 12yr old dog,so have to put her first.Although the vet says she it on top form, with no health probs.
Any info much appreciated.

Found this vet Welcome to Dr. Sameh Shata Pets Clinic

Lyndsay might have researched vets as she is taking her dog out.

Hi Alison,thanks for that.
Have been following the Lyndsay probs with dog.Not even thinking about transportation yet!!!!
So many things to get straight in my mind.I am one of those people who needs everything to be clear in my mind.Although we have decided that the uk is not doing it for us anymore.
There is just so much to consider. We will need to work over there,as we cannot retire early just yet.We will move out debt free with a small amount to tide us over. But its impossible to get a job until we're there.I think we are both clear that we would love to be involved in property sales/maintenance of some sort. Here's hoping!...

Hi Lyndsay,If you dont mind me asking....Are you planning to work when your move? That is my major concern(after the dog).We are just next to you at Brit Res.
We have two options....Sell uk house and it will pay for hurg apt.Or,keep uk house and rent it out, rent out apt,and get a live in job....!?

Hi Jules,

Still working on that one lol

Hoping to go into business with my husband but that will probably be 6 months away. From speaking to people out there, theres plenty of jobs available but wages are the problem.

Our original plan was to sell our house in the uk but with the massive down turn in property sales in the uk we ended up renting out our house. Means we have the option in 18 months of comng home or (more likely) sell the house then invest either further into business or other properties.

But as with all these things time will tell.

Anything has got to be better than the uk at the moment. I paid £1.30 per litre of diesel the other day. Its getting out of control

Lyndsay

Yeah, know what you mean...Wish i'd never learned to drive.Unfortunately,if we rent out our uk house it wont be enough,(as we re-mortgaged for hurg apt).We would have to rent out apt as well.Only other option is to sell.As our house is in n.wales it has increased in value more than England,As the market was always behind England.

I do understand everone wanting to leave the UK - I really do - but I just can't wait to get back!! Having said that, I watch Sky news every day and I read the papers, so I realise how things are deteriorating. In a way I probably see it more as it's so different when we return every summer - it doesn't seem to be a safe place to live anymore. When you're away from it, there's so much to miss but in the end a few months a year is probably enough and when we're finished here in Bahrain, we won't be retiring back to Wales.
