Nice to know I'm not alone - I've got one just like that!! My son and I are off to Wales for the summer, can't wait to get out of this heat, but my husband is going to work in France for the duration!!

Whereabouts in Wales - I'm from Cardiff originally.
I'd much rather your problem - needing a reprieve from the sun, than a reprieve from the rain & my jumper!

Rhoose - so we couldn't get any nearer to the airport if we tried! Luckily we never hear any noise from it though. My mother's Welsh, from Barry orginally, so we know the area fairly well. Bet Cardiff is a bit different now isn't it? Do you go back much?

I'd much rather your problem - we need to do a swap! I don't like the heat - much prefer spring and autumn, even winter, to a continuous summer.

(When you've read this I'll move a few of our posts to the Chit Chat thread in the lounge).

My dads still in Cardiff & my 16 year old daughter is very 'friendly' with a lad from Cardiff.
Down there on Sun actually to pick her up. To catch the train back involves a bus to Bristol, train to Bath & a change for Chippenham. You'd think it was opposite ends of the country.
I used to regularly go to Barry with my mates, on the spur of the moment, just to sit on the beach & watch the sun go down or come up. Those were the days - young free & single. Coming here all those years ago was a real culture shock - everything shut at 5;30, didn't open weekends..... I was always running out of petrol & milk. Things have changed here since then though.
Sorry we're on the wrong thread for chit chat. Story of my life wrong place wrong time.

Husband's job of course - what else? I've had to put up with the heat of Kuwait, Saudi and now Bahrain over the 20 years we've been married - with the occasional couple of years in the UK!

You know life has a wicked sense of humour I say.
My hubby has 2 brothers, both of which have had numerous opportunities to go abroad with their work & can't 'cause wives won' let them. Me, who'd up & go anywhere just for the hell of it, am married to the one with his own business, that keeps him very firmly in this area. So I don't even get to see another part of the UK.
Who works this out?

I suppose you've got to laugh....haven't you?

My dad was in the RAF until I was 18 so I grew up with the fact that the family follow's the husband's work. There was a period of time when I thought it best for our son to stay put in one school (as I'd never done) so hubbie spent a few years away from us - lots of visits of course. I'd much prefer going where he goes than making him stay in a job that he hates. I keep telling him - why the Middle East...why not Canada or Norway or the Scottish Highlands......somwhere cold PLEASE!!!
