Hi Peter, I must admit, I was interested in Hurghada but I thought that although Marsa Alam is underdeveloped, I think now is the best time. Like anywhere, when an area is well developed, eventually there can be over supply.

Marsa Alam has had some good reviews. Sure its a gamble but I know if I don't have a go I never will

Sounds like a really good forum Peter

Interestingly enough just watched Indiana Jones tonight!!! lol, not that I am expecting Eqypt to be that adventurous.

Having no children yet we try to holiday as much as we can and aim to evetually move away from the rat race in the UK! My parents and friends have property abroad and i really wanted to jump on the band wagon and own my own "bolt hole" outside of the uk.
So one day, whilst shopping on the internet, (as us women do) I came accross The Desert Pearl 2 development. Having been to sharm before and loved it and knowing how popular the red sea was becoming with toursits i could not resist the competitive prices for a studio. So, without going out there, i trusted my gut instinct and brought it there and then. To this day i still havent been out there and cannot stress enough how informative this forum has been to me. I now realise i was taking a major risk but by going on all what i've read on here i'm so glad i took the chance.
hi we did something very similar .. whilst looking on rightmove saw a development that wasnt available then was sent info on dp1 and 2 nearly bought an apartment there but was on the outside and not on the inside as we wanted. was shown coral sea pearl and stuck our deposit down there and then.. felt quite safe about it but not knowing hurghada , we were a bit funny so went over to see it .. this was outside of our cooling off period but put our mind at rest. i can honestly say desert pearl will be fantastic for the money its location is minutes away from everything.. you have a fantastic purchase at a great price.. i have been all around this development and you will be glad you bought here and join your friends being an overseas property owner.. has a nice ring to it hey lol.. any help needed , i am around on here.. welcome to the totally property funnyfarm.... ps we have since reserved another wwd development.. wayne

Hi Clare and nice to hear a little about you.

We too thought along the same lines as you. We have been visiting Egypt for the last couple of years ( 5 times last year cos we are greedy! ) and are well and truly hooked. We have been to Cairo, Luxor, Sharm and Hurghada and must say that Sharm was our fave so we bought in Nabq which is an up and coming area near to the mangrove national park. At the moment it is completely different to Naama - which we do love espec the prom along the beach.

We thought long and hard last year and decided yes need to do it. I looked at Regency towers in Hurgh and really really liked the look of it ( on the web not seen in the flesh ) but hubby and daughter wanted to buy in Sharm. I wanted a resale or something to move into straight away but upon research I found the prices were so much dearer espec in Naama so we found off plan at Sierra and thought it was a bargain at 21,700. Im glad we didnt hang about as now the same apartments are now on sale for nearly 10k more!! and they are still not finished yet.

If you see a bargain grab it and go for it. Good luck and all the best.

Alison xx

LOL no probs I'll buy the 1st but how am I gonna get back to the boat. George - taxi for Alison please!!

Yes Dawn it will be lovely to meet everyone. Lyndsay is looking to move out very soon, Nick, Jeremy and Crombie are already there - yes and you George LOL - sorry if I have forgotten anyone else ( Lsab is not too far away ) . I am planning to move out as soon as funds and Amys schooling allow ( min 1 yr max 4 ) and will plan to have regular weekly flights over. We can fly from Sharm to Hurgh for as little as £12.50 each way at the moment - a lot quicker and easier than the ferry. But dont know if they will let me board again after a day with you lot!!!
