Hi Dawn there is a thread on diary dates and also where and when where you can post your dates or just add them here and Linda or I will pick up your post and add it to the calendar xx

On the subject of loo brushes I bought this up a while ago and I was going to bring those disposable ones made by toilet duck I think. But then the question was raised as to whether they would eventually block the loo up. Dont fancy all that sewage coming bakc up expec when the apartment is empty!! I bought mine in the UK - nice stainless steel one with plastic inner that can be easily washed and bleached and it was quite lightweight. The sand here seems to stain the loo. I have been pouring bleach down each night and it seems ok but dont know what state the loo will be in when I return next month. I have also defrosted the freezer in the fridge as I will turn that off tonight as well. Ypu will be surprised as how many things you need to think about and consider. Washed my white last night and my white bras are disgusting!!! Straps nasty light brown colour still. I didnt use the clorux bleach but think I will need to. I now know not to bring white clothes with me. I have some lovely white towels at home in the UK that I was going to bring next month and they are defo going to be staying at home. I will be out shopping again and getting dark towels!

Hi Alison,
Thank you for your help. I have been putting dates on here and I think all over the forum, lol. But I haven't been in the dairy dates, I didn't realise. I will have a look at that thread. Please can you put them on the calendar for me. We will be going out to hurghada on 12th September and Leaving on the 18th, then my daughter Terri & boyfriend will be out on the 14th Nov until 21st, then we go out again on 8th Dec until 15th Dec. Then us and children on 16th Feb until 23 Feb. I also asked Lyndsay about filters on the washing machines, and there isn't, but Lyndsay has had no problems with hers, her clothes are still white. Thats made me happy!! I would like a stainless steel loo brush, do you think you can get them out there? Thanks again for your kind help.

Dawn -x-

It may work out cheaper and easier to buy a separate cheap phone from Woolies or somewhere to use in egypt get it unlocked in egypt instead of each member of the family having to unlock their phone. This has been discussed on a Luxor forum and seems to me to be the best solution long term. Or bring an old mobile to use, you don't want to take your top of the range phone to the beach!!!!!

I bought a cheap pay as you go phone from my local 'phone warehouse', none of them are locked so you can get a sim and credit over there_very cheap. Mobinil topup instructions are printed numerically and easy to understand. Had to get a random egyptian bloke to top up my etisalat sim!!! instructions were in arabic, as you would expect.

Love the "random bloke", you have to hand it to Egyptian men, they are ALWAYS willing to help. I shall be asking the man in the shop I think.

Thanks to you all for your help with the mobile's. I went into car phone warehouse today and asked if I brought a pay as you go over here and took it to egypt, then put an egyptian sim card in would it work over there, they said no, they have put a block on it, because people were buying phones over here and selling them abroad. I dont believe that at all. I asked the same question in the orange shop and he said, no only an orange sim card would work in it, so I then said, it would if I got the phone unlocked, and he said yes. So I think I have an old mobile lying around somewhere, so I will use that. All I want to know now is that do you need a trio or dual band to beable to use it out there. Is there anyone on here that has used a mobile form over here with an egyptian sim card?

Cheers Dawn
