Hi Roger

Technically all tourists should travel with the convoy ( I think there are 3 or 4 per day ) We travelled to Luxor last year on our way to El Gouna and had to stay overnight in Luxor as we were told we would arrive too late to make the evening convoy to Safaga. As it happened we were held up getting into Luxor as we had to wait for the convoy to pass ! We made a night of it in Luxor and then got up early to do a balloon trip which made it really worthwhile.

As with all things in Egypt there will be ways to get to El Gouna without using the convoy but man involve some baksheesh.

Yea flying direct to Hurghada booked with thomas cook on the 14th.

22nd Apr - 06 May Manchester £199

25 Apr - 09 May Gatwick £238

04 Apr - 11 Apr Manchester £264
