Default Feed Back about investment in Germany

Hello there all,

For those of you who have invested in Germany, how did you go about buying the property? Is it just a matter of contacting estate agents over there and asking them to suggest property or are their special agencies set up specifically for foreigners to buy property there as places like Dubai has.

I have also read that you can pick up great bargains at the German auctions, however I can't find any contact details for these auction houses on these forums, could someone in the know perhaps post up a few links here to help out the rest of us.

Thanks
Ismael

I was just going through the internet and i brought up a company calling itself harriss volker and dynes ltd and they are holding an auction in Ireland ! germanauctions.com . I was looking through the properties for sale list and I have found a property which belongs to one of my friends he brought from the german auction house.I just called my friend and he says not only is the property not for sale he has no idea who this outfit is ! also I noticed that the properties they have for sale are also being auctioned at an auctionhouse in Germany... Does anyone know what is going on ????? Hope its not a big scam !

Hi EasyGerman,

From my personal experience first in finance and then more recently in the property sector any firm that only has an email address in its contact section is to be avoided like the plague. If you look at the websites for any respectable company they will have office addresses and phone numbers. Without these it makes it very difficult for you to take any action if they take you for a property they don't actually own or have the right to sell.

Yes, you are right the notary would stop you from completing on a sale like this but that’s not until after you've paid you x% auction fee. I don't know this firm but given what you’re saying and looking at their anonymous website I think you’re probably correct about the nature of this operation.

You should always check to auctioneers right to sell the property (they will be empowered by a notary contract, letter form German financial institution etc) before bidding at auction. P.s. This documentation is easy for a legitimate operation to show.

Hope this helps you.

Kind regards,
