There is a new information portal being launched for Hungary at Magyar Portal

This site has information on the legal issues on buying property in Hungary - very straight forward outside of the big cities. Included on the site are some properties for sale to give an indication of what you get for your money.

As a resident myself one of the big advantages of this country is, apart from being cheap to live, if that is it SAFE! Children walk to school, houses are not locked, bicycles are left outside the local shop. There are literally thousands of villages in Hungary where a family or a retired couple can live a rural lifestyle on a low income that is just not even thinkable in the UK.

We have examples of fully renovated country houses for around GBP 30,000 or a family house with working pub for GBP 48,000!

What would be the long term rental possibilities letting to locals for a £30,000 country house? What would be the monthly rental return? Is there the infrastructure to manage property for an absent landlord? How easy is it to arrange finance in Hungary?
