I agree, don't let him pressurise you. There are plenty of honest agents out there.

I would name and shame them - Post everywhere naming them and if concerned about ID just open a new MSN - Yahoo or other free email account.

Think they will learn once they know they are being named and suspect they will not know who it is as they would have done it to many others.

Here here..... he is scamming you

Don't worry about it.

Look elsewhere, learn from this and go with a reputable agent.

I am sure you will find one on here......or someone who can recommend one anyway.

I realise that this is an old thread now, but thought i should comment anyway.

I'm in the business selling turkish properties, arranging exhibitions and inspection visits (Boo, Hiss) and would never even contemplate treating a customer the way you have been; surely all it serves to do is push you away and end any potential sale.

Sounds to me as if that company (whoever they were) were just after as much out of your bank as they could manage. You possibly had a lucky escape there!

The way I do things is we offer options to the client as to when and how to travel, but the client is always left to make their own choices. On arrival they are booked into a 5 star hotel (approx £35 per night) or given one of our own apartments free of charge.

You're then given a 2-3 day holiday style tour of the area, taken to local sites and events; then once familiar with the area the property inspections can begin.

We also go the extra step with after sales, that we can handle decoration, furnishings, white goods and even stock your cupboards to your own spec.

Because our office is in the area where we sell, we remain in contact with our clients; answering anything from "Where would i find ..." to "How do I say ... in turkish" and have lot of clients/repeat clients just popping in for a coffee. We even collect them (and their customers if its a buy-to-rent) from the airport as an ongoing service.

If you're getting anything less from your inspection trip - I'd reconsider and look else where.

I'm not saying you have to use my firm (you'll notice i'm not using any advertising of my company name etc here), but like any business there are always going to be good and bad places. it's your time and money you're investing, so take your time and select somebody that can and will help not hinder you.

Turkey is a great place, a fantastic place to invest in (new apartments from £21'000) and has some of the best scenic and historic sites in the world. Dont be put off by a bad experience.

Hi Pete, If you have not signed any contract with them there is nothing to worry about. Unfortunately some people are so pushy.

I was lucky that I found a good agent, they have very good projects all around Turkey and he can speak Turkish.

Jeepers Nick, you on commission or something

No seriously though, its good to see a satisfied customer; that's the best kind of advertising possible.

Hi Jonny,

I am not even in this business just a satisfied customer. Before I purchased my house I have been told lots of bad stories. I just wanted to say how I was happy with my agent and not all of the agents are bad as I still keep in touch with them. People should share their good or bad experiences with eachother as that is what the forum is for. I am glad you are one of the people who knows recomendation is the best form of advertising

You're so right; that is something that goes without saying. Referrals are the life blood of any business, without them ... oh i can't even contemplate how awful things would be. But in this market a referral is like gold dust; things just don't get any better than a personal recommendation from a customer.

A high proportion of the work we do comes from referrals and internal contacts; one sale leading to others, that in turn lead on to further sales. It's on this basis that we (and any company) develops a reputation for being not only able to deliver the goods, but to do so with the care of their customer at the fore.

I'm delighted your satisfied with your contractor. it means there is at least one other company out there doing things the right way!

Hi Jonny Again,

Oh yes my agent is definately doing their business in a right way and I am very happy to recommend them to anybody.
You seem very happy with the company you are working in or is it your own company?
I am very curious to know your company name after all your promotions
