£500+VAT, are you sure they have not included your water and electric connections in that price,

Your solicitor should have explained all this to you,Dont forget they will want paying as well,

Majika,

There is no single charge associated with buying a property in Turkey that comes to an exact 500 GBP plus VAT. You need a break down of costs from your agent and solicitor. You need to know what you're paying for.

If they fudge over issues like this before you start paying BEWARE! You should have a detailed schedule of payments. It's so you know where you are with payments and also your proof that you've paid for all add-on costs, when you've completed the sale.

I think responders have answered your question already but we have been polite about it....so putting it bluntly - yes you are being over charged for "military searches". No one can specify an exact figure unless they know the exact property you are buying and the cost agreed between buyers and seller AND VERY IMPORTANTLY, the cost agreed for the purposes of the TAPU (now I might have lost you here if you are not familiar with buying and selling in Turkey) but it's very normal here to write a lower price on the TAPU than the actual price you paid (it saves on costs for buyer and seller but can produce problems later on if you wish to sell your house in less than 4 years)and what type of land it's in ie a military zone or a bog standard piece of land. You need a conveyancer (licensed estate agent or solicitor) from the beldiye area where your Midas property is built. Turkey has different rules and regulations for different areas. This is not a country as standardised as other European countries. You're thinking very British hence you're getting frustrated that you can't get a straight answer....there isn't a straight answer.

What TH4S was trying to get at, is maybe you do not have a proper breakdown of costs and maybe your agent / solictor has called it "military costs" when in fact it is a few smaller charges labelled under one umbrella term.....no-one wants to jump the gun and say"ooo, you're being ripped off!" because maybe your people have just failed to communicate with you properly and hence maybe they're not over charging you, maybe they're just guilty of lack of communication....and thet's something you find all over the world

Majika,

I have a feeling that you'll think I'm fudging the issue with my previous post....so to be more specific....my last buyer bought 2 villas on a luxury complex...total price of 2 villas 140,000 GBP....Belediye - Didim (ALtinkum land)....military costs were 200 GBP.

Maybe this will give you a hard figure to compare with BUT as I said before, you need a conveyancer in the area of the development you are buying to give you an exact figure ie your solictor and your estate agent.
