Question Invest in Istanbul?

Dear All,

I am an Italian Engineer working in UK, and I am really thinking to invest some of my money to buy one or two properties overseas.

I have been looking for quite a long while to find what could be the best place to invest, and at the moment I am quite convinced that investing in Istanbul could be a good gamble.

I looked at a few develompments there:
I was just wondering if anybody has already invested there or thinking to invest, and would share some information with me and other people interested.

Thank you very much in advance

Emanuele

Hi Emanuele,

Turkey is currently bearing the typical hallmarks of an increasingly diverse and enthusiastic investor base.

The volatility of currency interest rates and the modest rise in inflation in the second quarter of 2006 briefly reduced residential demand and buying activity. However, incoming demand from the demographic changes such as population increases and inbound migration should restore confidence and trigger demand in the medium term once again.

Construction activity is booming in and around Istanbul, its satellite cities and along Turkey’s enormous coastline. Buoyed by a supply of quality residential property, a growing retail sector and increases in disposable income and employment opportunities, the demand for property seems set to continue.

Good Luck

Paul

Hi Emanuele,

I agree Istanbul has great investment potential. Growing population and economic growth has lead to high price rises in recent years. Also locals are involved in the property market which means you have a resell market and exit strategy. Mortgages are introduced early next year so now would be an ideal time to purchase off-plan property.

As you may know parts of Istanbul are very affluent but it is still possible to purchase off-plan property for prices that are lower than many Eastern European cities where there is no exit strategy yet and yields can be low.

I've purchased two 1-bed flats in the most central location possible to maximise rental/resell in a few years. It's a City of 15 Million and growing so I'm confident of making a profit.

Hello All,

You might want to check out the company of "OYPRO Property management" in Istanbul if you are interested in purchasing single units in Istanbul. You will need someone to manage your property and collect rent as you will obviously be very far from your investment. This was the only site I could find that provides property management services for investors.
