Default Information

Hi Geb

I have looked thoroughly through the internet and in agents windows when I was in Altinkum and couldnt find a one bedroom apartment for £12,000....can you send me a link or details please? You sound very anti-Turkey, there are many good things happening there and from what I have heard, builders are getting into trouble because they are over-pricing property. Would love it if you could send me a link to a £12k one bedroom apartment on a complex with facilities.

Thanks

John

Dear Geb
Flights go in and out of Bodrum 12 months of the year. Also, FYİ Didim (Altinkum) is situated between 2 airports (Bodrum and İzmir) so is extremely well serviced. Transfer prices vary depending who you use and whether you have a private or communal transfer - from £7.50 to £60 - so its worth shopping around.

Check out the Daily Mail 28.12.07 - p88, article entitled 'The next big thing?' in overseas property and Turkey is cited as the 'emerging star' of the 2008 overseas property markets - with a special mention for Altinkum as the place to grab a bargain.

Of course, this article is purely the paper opinion but you do seem anti the area, so İ thought İ'd raise this counter opinion - keep your eyes and ears open - Altinkum and the Didim area as a whole are on the way to a higher status. The area is ripe for investors who shop sensibly: Johnsouthcombe says he has bought in MaviŞehir - which isn't Altinkum but is a quiet sleepy authentic resort within Didim but a 20 minute bus ride from Altinkum. Mavi Şehir has miles of beach and is steep in archaeological sites. On paper he has made a sensible investment - the area is developing very slowly compared to Altinkum. Mavi Şehir is an excellent area to invest.

Default Viewing Trips

In my experience Turkish Agents are happy to organise and pay for your accommodation whilst you are there bit often don't pay for flights. They tend to have deals with local hotels.

sorry it seems i was read wrong.
i bought a large duplex over 5 years ago.
and have always understood that bodrum closes
at the end of season oct. and re-opens 01/05
i go for a month at a time 2/3 times a year.
i wont say a figure but its in the 1000s of empty properties
some do not even get a viewing once a year??
i have many friends who live permenantly there they tell
me if the seafront dont get its act together this coming season, many will go to the wall.

the £12-000 studio??appolo temple area,
cant think of the agents name, but go to bottom of hill
turn left at taxi rank walk to wards BIG NOSE bar
on left are 2 agents both have a few steps leading down.
they were showing a board 1bd/studio apt NEW,£12-000
THANK YOU FOR FLIGHT INFO. i will check it out now,
as i want to go early march.
sorry for seeming cynical
geb
