No its not wrong, but there seems to be no controll over them. It all the same where you buy prperty the bottom line is you must deal with companies that have a proven track record. Manny of the Turkish agents have come from nothing and will run at the first sign of trouble, I know of one in Alanya that has gone with over 2 million euros of clients money, you cat do that in the UK See my point.

Dunney,
İ believe you are wrong, in saying there is no control over Turkish Agents,
They all have to be registered,

I will repeat myself again, anybody who is considering buying a property in Turkiye,Please use a solicitor,

Dunney, excuse my manners welcome to the forum,

Kevin O'Kane - ran off with 10million GBP (if I'm to believe the press)

TH4S is so right.....what did all these buyers have in common....? (Again, if we are to believe the press)...None of the buyers used a solicitor and none of the buyers had looked into the background of the villas so goodness knows what they had bought..... fresh air

A licenced estate agent AND a solicitor is the safest way to buy (DON'T ! HAND OVER THE CASH LIKE BUYING A SECOND HAND CAR as someone else posted on another thread!!!!!!!) The licenced estate agent and the solicitor will show you the land ownership and thus the building rights BEFORE you hand over any money.....

Just because an estate agency window, website or business card might say that they're licensed, it doesn't mean they are....see the proof for yourself.....(certificate with photo from Chamber of Commerce). This license is their control....if it's taken away the agents will not be able to operate legitimately in the future ALSO tax office registration is important. The tax man regulates offices in Turkey.

No regulation over estate agents?.....this week I've had the tax man in, the Chamber of Commerce and even the health and safety inspectors! Just like London buses....

Hey, I am on your side, but I am going by peoples experience. I agree with you, but you cant ignore the scams that are going on, you need to self regulate your self more, to get ride of the scammers before they destroy everthing.I know of people who used a solicitor, it seemed he we even in on the scam.
Thanks you for your invite.

The experience is that of the minority....but of course, bad press speaks louder than good press. There are thousands of foreign buyers in Altinkum Didim, (several million in Turkey as a whole) not to mention the thousands of Turkish holiday home owners....good news stories don't make good telling...
Yes, I agree, buyers need to arm themselves with good information, make decisions based on sound knowledge and take responsibility for their own decisions.
I probably shouldn't say it here (don't wish to offend anyone but seeing as all members are supposed to be or aiming to be intelligent investors, I shall - don't be surprised if you see this mail edited by the big bosses, lol) but as estate agents, we do see a lot of ill-informed (even uninformed) buyers who are totally niaive and vulnerable to rogue agents / constructors. Of course (and here's a plug for me, lol) those people are safe in our hands as we do act honourably but believe you me, not all agents do and we always try to pass on a bit of street cred to those buyers for the way that things operate over here. Unethical operators prow on ill-informed niaive buyers so those who do their homework and give the agents a hard time are in fact easier for good agents to deal with....
...so the morale at the end of this epic, is....buyers beware....make intelligent choices....use an independent solicitor....

Sunny Days, a very good post indeed,

On another matter, yesterday we had two agents giving different views on a new or proposed Theme park (Lara Beach Antalya),

I had to delete several of there offensive remarks,!

When i opened up a different thread for them both to post in,only one of them posted,!

There are buyers looking in here every day,if you going post information please do,but do it without attacking each other,

Any member who continue's to make offensive remarks to other members, will be banned,

Very well put! you see we can agree. I could not have put it better myself. The problem now is letting people know, a lot of buyers are bought over by a lot of charm, that fine for the purchase of a hand bag, it will come a time to name and shame, the government will need to do more as well. The industry will need to acked now. paint sticks. I have bought of a developer , have to say everthing went perfect, very good company. Just wish others would work as hard. There are very good companies around, but so manny not so good, agents from other countries ackting for some in Turkey are as much to blame, scaming people from there own country, this to will have to stop.
So we agree, nice to see that people care.

Dunney

I am only new to this but I dont think I said any thing to any one to offend them, can you inform me as to what was said, on my be half.

Dunney,
I don't think the moderators were referring to you but to the posters in the Antalya thread (comments probably deleted before majority got to read them).
